History
Anderson Theological College
Anderson Theological College was named after the first American Baptist Missionary to Sumi land, Reverend Bengt. I Anderson.

In witnessing the needs for formal education, Rev. Anderson started a Primary School at Aizuto in the year 1938, with a hope to educate and provide a brighter future. The Primary School was then upgraded to Middle School. In 1949 this school was replaced by the Bible School offering two years vernacular course as per the pressing needs of the people. Again in 1955 it was upgraded to a three years Diploma course. The ministry had a humble beginning with a smattering of students. This humble ministry continued till 1993.

The dire need for good leadership in both the secular and religious fields, and the need to produce well-trained church leaders with higher education was realized. Therefore, the Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK) Council in its Aghiyili Session in 1993 unanimously agreed to upgrade the Bible School into a full-fledged degree college. On 20th June 1994, it opened its door for a degree college offering Bachelor of Theology. Today Anderson Theological College offers Bachelors as well as Masters programs, and is at par with other colleges and universities.
