On the 15th of August 2024, Anderson Theological College commemorated India’s 78th Independence Day with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony held at the college campus.
This annual event is a significant occasion for the college community to honor the nation’s freedom, remember the sacrifices made by our forebears, reminder of the country’s rich history, the enduring values of freedom and democracy, and pray for the nation.
The ceremony began with the traditional flag hoisting, conducted by Rev. Dr. Daniel Chishi, Executive Secretary SBAK Aizuto. As the national flag was raised, the audience stood and sang the national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana,” with pride and reverence.
Following the flag hoisting, Rev. Dr. Daniel Chishi addressed the gathering. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of Independence Day, reflecting on India’s journey towards freedom and the ongoing responsibilities of its citizens. He encouraged the students to embody the values of patriotism, integrity, perseverance, paying tribute, and pray for the leaders of our country.
The event concluded with Mr. Kahovi Aye, Academic Dean sharing the prayer needs and the attendees prayed for the country.
The event was attended by SBAK Aizuto General Staff, students, faculty members, and administrative staff, creating a spirited and respectful atmosphere.
The event concluded with refreshments and informal interactions among attendees.
